There isn’t much in terms of special editions or bundles for Sonic Frontiers. Fans have been given a choice between a standard physical edition and a digital deluxe edition, but that’s about as far as it goes for many. There are special Sonic Frontiers steelbooks available when preordering the game with GameStop and Best Buy, but if fans are looking for goodies to go with their game, the only real “special editions” being offered are the limited and deluxe editions exclusive to Japan.

Sonic Frontiers’ Limited and Deluxe Editions

In Japan, Sonic Frontiers fans have three sets of items they can get alongside their copy of the game. These come in a limited edition, deluxe edition, or a bundle of both, and there’s also an optional acrylic stand that players can order with their bundle. A majority of the goodies in these editions deal with the strange new Koco creatures who live on the Starfall Islands, acting as a way for fans to make Sonic stronger throughout the game.

Sonic Frontiers: Are the Limited and Deluxe Editions Worth It?

To help with the demand, Sega of Japan opened a second way to order these bundles through its online store, but international fans will probably need to use a proxy shipping service to order from it. The price of these editions, after conversion, sit at a little over $65 USD for the limited edition, and $81.35 USD for the deluxe edition.

This doesn’t take into account that most proxy shipping services tend to charge fees for their work. While the bundles sound great, it may be best for fans to wait for these items to appear on sites like eBay in the coming months. The items offered seem like small trinkets outside The Art of Sonic Frontiers book, which may be the same art book said to be included in the digital deluxe edition for international fans.

With how confident Sega and Sonic Team seem to be with Sonic Frontiers, it’s curious that they didn’t capitalize on it to make some great special editions for international fans. The digital deluxe edition is better than nothing, but perks such as the mini soundtrack don’t mean much in hindsight, especially with how the 25 tracks on offer are only one-sixth of the total songs in the game.

However, what’s included in these limited and deluxe editions isn’t much to miss out on, either. They’re merely extra Sonic merchandise to go with the game, and rather simplistic items at that. Fans will likely have their chance in the future to grab a Koco plush, keychain, stickers, and more after Sonic Frontiers launches, provided that the game does well.

Sonic Frontiers launchs on November 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
