Some of these improvements can be seen in Horizon: Forbidden West’s gameplay, with an expansive open world that contains plenty of quests. These range from main story quests to the variety of side activities with plenty of new characters and allies for the player to work with. The combat has also been polished to a shine, giving fans many options to tackle various combat scenarios, offering intense action-packed battles or stealthy takedowns. With this sequel being a step-up from the first game, it’s no surprise it’s also seen impressive sales.

Horizon: Zero Dawn already had impressive sales numbers, and now Horizon: Forbidden West is seeing similar reception and launch. A GSD data report shows the top-selling games of the UK on the PSN Store. The report shows Horizon: Forbidden West beating out games like FIFA 22 and Total War: Warhammer 3 as the most downloaded game from the storefront from last week.

The report also shows that almost half of Horizon: Forbidden West’s sales were digital downloads from the PSN Store. According to the GSD data, the figure was around 49% that consisted of digital sales. In comparison to the previous game’s launch, the digital sales of this game were double of Horizon: Zero Dawn when it first launched back in 2017.

This is no surprise, considering that it was reported that a vast majority of PlayStation’s game sales were through the digital store last year. Some of these figures can be attributed to the launch of Sony’s next-gen console, the PS5, with the brand continuing to gain popularity as time goes on. The GSD report even notes that 67% of the digital sales for Horizon: Forbidden West were specifically for the PS5 version of the game. With healthy sales and positive critical reception, Horizon: Forbidden West is turning out to be a stand-out title in the PlayStation library.

Horizon: Forbidden West is out now for PS4 and PS5.
