Both Spider-Man actors were ultimately unable to finish their respective sagas due to a myriad of problems piled on top of Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s disappointing reception, something that Tom Holland never had to deal with. In Garfield’s case, his third movie would have probably led to him meeting his Mary Jane, as well as another potential love interest in Felicia Hardy, a prospect that seems more enticing than ever when one imagines all that could have happened to that version Peter before his appearance Spider-Man: No Way Home.

It’s precisely due to all of this that artist Rahal Nejraoui (@Rahalarts) took his time to produce a potential poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, featuring not only the two women lined up to rock Peter’s world in that movie but also Tom Hardy’s brand-new Venom. As with most Venom and Spider-Man clashes, the artwork teases what Garfield’s suit would look like under symbiote’s effects. Plus, it recasts the two female actors who were supposed to gain considerable protagonist roles in the canceled third film.
Despite Rahalarts leaving a small disclaimer saying the symbiote suit’s texture is far from finished in this image, the result is just as impressive. In fact, it ends up looking like a crossover of Maguire’s getup from when he faced the alien and Garfield’s costume design. Felicity Jones also looks pretty convincing as the alluring Black Cat, while Shailene Woodley’s inclusion as Mary Jane serves as a nice easter egg that was entirely cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Spider-Man: No Way Home teased the idea that Garfield’s Peter grew a darker side to him after Gwen Stacy’s death, a storyline that would fit perfectly with the symbiote influence taking over him at some point, along with him getting intimate with the Black Cat’s criminal affairs. Interest in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has reached a point where Garfield has already named his demands to return, though there are possibilities for Garfield to reprise the role in another Spider-Man storyline.
Sony has a lot to figure out with its Spider-Man Universe, though considering how fantastically good of a time No Way Home has had at the box office, studio executives are probably dying to secure that new Holland trilogy as soon as possible before rehiring any former web-slinging heroes.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters.
