The original release of the New World was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic but the team is going into further details about the game before a closed beta is up and running. It seems the title will have plenty of battling elements to keep players entertained, including opposing players as well as the environment itself.

The team behind New World showcased how gamers can create a company of up to 50 players and siege a territory that can be defended by an equal amount of players. There will be weapons and buffs that both sides can use to get an advantage on their opponent in the one hour window that is given for sieges. The goal for the attacking team is to break down the gates and capture the flag in order to obtain the area. This large scale online battle will excite many players as it is an unusually large online multi-player experience, at least in terms of the size of the teams. There are also fights that come from the environment rather than other online parties. The New World environment has demons and they will attempt to invade territories periodically. Invasions will be challenging waves of enemies, but if players can defend their territory from these enemies they will be rewarded with experience and money.
The challenge the New World faces is differentiating itself from other MMO titles. While the mechanics and a large number of players teaming up suggest something fresh, the qualities of the game will become more evident when the beta begins. If the game can create its own identity then the cursed island of Aeternum could become a popular place for players who want to team up and battle against opponents and the spooky environment.
New World launches August 25 on PC.
