According to the online retailer, the upcoming all-star beat ’em up will have a new offering called ‘Board Game’ mode and a Challenge mode of sorts that’s overseen by series’ antagonists Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Meanwhile, the stage creator is said to be making its triumphant return in the new game, and it’ll allegedly allow users to completely build their own unique battlegrounds utilizing the system’s GamePad controller.

The new Board Game mode sounds the most intriguing out of all the leaked offerings and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Admittedly, the first thing that comes to mind when Nintendo is associated with board games is Mario Party (or maybe even limited edition Monopoly sets), which could be an interesting layout that adds a fun dynamic to fans that want to switch things up a bit when they have company over.

That said, it’s hard to imagine that the Big N would create a fight-fuelled version of the popular party game when Mario Party 10 is well into development and scheduled to arrive on the Wii U at some point next year. Cannibalizing the market isn’t something Nintendo is looking to do at this point or ever, so we’d imagine that this mode will march to the beat of its own drum and mix things up a bit.

Do you like the sounds of any of these leaked modes? What else are you hoping for from the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.?

Super Smash Bros. is currently available on the Nintendo 3DS, with the Wii U version scheduled to hit on November 21, 2014.
